Our team of specialist doctors are happy to offer telehealth consultations via video call.
To book a video appointment you can contact the clinic on 02 9966 4700 or reception@nssmc.com.au or make an online booking as usual and let us know you want to do it via video.
The benefits of this are:
Convenient access to specialist medical advice from your home or office
Save time by eliminating travel, parking etc.
Receive the same specialist medical opinions, advice and management plans
A video consultation allows us to provide an in depth assessment of your condition through a thorough history, functional assessment and review of any prior imaging or medical investigations. Often the most important aspect of managing a musculoskeletal condition is having a good understanding of the diagnosis and management options, both of which can be discussed in detail via video call with our specialists.
Typical problems that can be comprehensively managed via telehealth are:
-Stress fractures
-Concussion
-Female Athlete conditions such as absent periods
-Osteoarthritis
-Tendinitis/tendinopathy
-Chronic pain
-Back pain
-Other problems of the neck, shoulder, arm, hip, groin, knee, ankle or foot
We are also able to offer
-Early advice in the setting of acute injury to ensure you get on the right track
-Second opinions on management

Frequently asked questions:
Do I need special audio/visual equipment?
No – we use Zoom.us a secure video conferencing software platform. We invite you via a web link (URL) that we send via email or SMS. You do not need to download anything, just access the web address provided using a phone, tablet or computer.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for a video consultation?
Yes – we like to have any appropriate investigations available before the consultation. This is important so that we can review them in detail prior to our discussion. Our reception staff can help facilitate this.
Also it is important that you are in a private and quiet environment. We may ask you to demonstrate some functional movements and so you should also be appropriately dressed.
What if I need to be referred for scans or tests?
No problem. We can organise this remotely, as well as post prescriptions if required.
Does it cost more?
No – we charge a reduced fee to account for the fact that medicare rebates are generally not able to be claimed. Please discuss with our reception staff as in some cases rebates are available.
Do I need a referral?
If no medicare rebate is claimed then a referral is not required, but we will still communicate with your General Practitioner and any other treating practitioners.
