Dr Samantha Pomroy
Sport & Exercise Medicine Registrar
Dr Samantha Pomroy is a Sport & Exercise Medicine registrar, currently completing her training with the Australasian College Of Sport & Exercise Physicians.
Sam treats patients of all ages and activity levels. She has a keen interest in adolescent medicine and enjoys being a part of the development of junior athletes of all levels. Sam also has an interest in female athletes and fatigue in athletes. She also has a background as a sports physiotherapist in Sydney and enjoys working alongside other members of the patient’s treatment team.
For the past 2 years Sam has been based at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, working with elite high-performance sport including Athletics, Para-Athletics, Swimming, Para-Swimming, the Centre of Excellence Basketball program and the NBA Global Academy, Rowing, Gymnastics, Volleyball, Boxing and Winter Sports. During this time Sam was one of the team doctors with the Australian Athletics Team at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and has covered the Athletics Australia events in Canberra (track and field; cross country), team doctor for the Australian World Junior Athletics Team in Finland 2018, team doctor for the Australian Women’s Volleyball team and was based at the European Training Centre in Italy for 5 weeks in 2018.
Whilst being based in Canberra Sam has also been a member of the Match Day medical team for the Brumbies, and assisted during Canberra-based Wallabies games, Australian Under 20s Rugby, Sydney Roosters Under 20s, Canberra United Women’s Football and part of medical team for the Canberra Marathon. Sam recently was one of the Medical Managers at the Sydney Sevens Rugby Tournament in Feb 2019. Prior to joining the team at the AIS Sam was working in private sports medicine Clinics in Canberra and treating all age groups and levels of activity.
